About Me
I have lived in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles and now reside in Oakland, California. I am passionate about art and literature and have been heavily involved in the arts for many years. In addition to my MFT, I have a master’s degree in Art Theory and Criticism from the Art Center and a master’s in Comparative Literature from the University of Southern California, where I studied theory, modern and contemporary art, film, and literature. I also taught at USC before becoming a therapist. My background in the arts and academia informs how I work, and I care deeply about art and ideas and their place in the human experience.
I work with many people who are struggling with isolation and loneliness, dissatisfaction in their relationships, anxiety or depression, feeling stuck, with trauma, with alcohol or drug addiction. I care deeply about and love working with the LBGTQ community. I also work with people who want to deepen their self-awareness through depth psychology and with people going through transitions.
I am psychodynamically oriented and believe that truly effective treatment must be customized to your unique self and needs. As such, I draw on a blend of evidence-based modalities, including mindfulness training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic/body scan techniques. I work with people going through life transitions, depression, anxiety, trauma, health anxiety, and addiction. I also work with survivors of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder abuse. My approach is intuitive, holistic, compassionate, and approachable. I am inspired by mind-body integration, inner child healing, and cultivating self-love. I offer a concrete path towards developing inner self-compassion, the scientifically supported healing ingredient in freeing up the burdened parts of ourselves. I am also trained in EMDR, a powerful treatment for trauma.
